Bio

Mr. Jean-Loup Yale is a Certified Technologist (OTPQ). He occupies the function of Director – Building Science within Envelop3. He has over 25 years of experience in the building and architectural fields and he specializes in the study of building pathologies which affect the various components of the building enclosure – whether vertical or horizontal. He oversees and has technical input in the entire range of services delivered by our department, whether it be reviews of plans and specs, hygrothermal modeling, in situ testing (non-destructive and destructive), forensic investigations, litigation, IAQ investigations, facade safety inspection (bill 122) or onsite quality assurance. He has led a multitude of mandates throughout Quebec, Ontario, and the arctic regions.  Mr. Yale is also in charge of training the technical personnel (engineers and technicians) in the field of building science and forensic engineering.

He is a Certified Roof Observer for the Quebec Roofer’s Association (AMCQ), he holds certifications from MICRO (Mold Inspection Consulting and Remediation Organization) and from IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning Restoration & Certification). Throughout the years, he has been an active participant in AMCQ committees such as the Continuous Education Committee and the Quality Control Consultants committee.  He is currently a sitting member of the OTPQ’s disciplinary committee. He is a member of CEBQ (Conseil de l’enveloppe du bâtiment du Québec), of BECOR (Building Envelope Council of Ottawa Region) and of IIBEC (International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants – previously called RCI), AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association), IAQA (Indoor Air Quality Association), and ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers). He is also a member of APTI (Association for Preservation Technology International), an organization centered on advancing appropriate traditional and new technologies to care for, protect, and promote the longevity of the built environment and to cultivate the exchange of knowledge throughout the international community

Mr. Yale had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of buildings and assemblies, from heritage buildings such as Montreal City Hall to skyscrapers like Place Ville-Marie. He has conducted forensic investigations and diagnostic investigations in condominiums, commercial, institutional as well as industrial buildings. Mr. Yale has a passion for historical and heritage buildings and was able to work on many churches, schools, museums, and various buildings in Old-Montreal.
