Previous to College and into the college years John worked in his families decorating business Kozak Paint and Decorating in Jersey City, New Jersey conducting sales and eventual installation of resilient floor covering after receiving training with Armstrong, Tarkett, Congoleum, and Kentile.
In 1980 he opened his own flooring installation company, Kozak Custom Floors. Specializing in high end residential and commercial floor covering. Including flash coving and heat welding health care projects.

Function: John credits his familiarity on technical and installation for resilient materials on his rising through the ranks from installation contractor to manufacturer technical support. John has thirty-five plus years managing technical support functions for four commercial resilient manufacturers. He has increased his knowledge of installation procedures by obtaining hands-on training from Ardex, Schonox, Koester, Uzin and other accessory products both in the United States and in Europe. Besides his familiarity with the commercial resilient flooring market and products available, John has functioned as these firm’s main troubleshooter in regard to product issues relating to miss-use, improper installation, damage due to environmental conditions outside of manufacturer’s control, and similar issues.
